Algiers – Naftal, the Algerian national oil company, has issued a stern warning to fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) transporters contracted with the company. The company is demanding an immediate resumption of supply and distribution operations, threatening contract termination and legal action for non-compliance.
In a formal communication addressed to the transporters, Naftal stated it has recorded breaches of contractual obligations. These breaches stem from the transporters’ refusal to guarantee the supply of fuel and LPG to storage facilities, as well as the distribution of these products, since December 31, 2025.
Naftal emphasized that this work stoppage has disrupted the company’s ability to fulfill its public service obligations, considering the transporters’ actions a clear violation of the signed contracts. The company asserts that transporters are obligated to immediately fulfill their contractual commitments.
The state-owned company affirmed its full right to terminate transport contracts, holding the transporters solely responsible for the consequences of such action. Naftal further indicated that contract termination does not preclude the pursuit of civil and criminal legal proceedings against the transporters involved, citing what it termed “committed errors.” DZWatch will continue to monitor this developing situation.
