Severe Weather Alert: Heavy Rains and Strong Winds Expected Across Algeria

Algiers, Algeria – Several regions of Algeria are bracing for severe weather conditions today, Sunday, as the national meteorological services have issued warnings for heavy thunderstorms and strong winds.

A significant portion of the country, particularly in the western and central regions, is expected to experience locally heavy thunderstorms from midday until midnight. The affected provinces include El Bayadh, Naama, Sidi Bel Abbes, Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Oran, Mostaganem, Mascara, Relizane, Tiaret, Chlef, Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Blida, Medea, Ain Defla, Tissemsilt, and Oum El Bouaghi.

Additionally, a separate weather advisory indicates that locally significant thunderstorms will persist until 6 PM in the provinces of Laghouat, Djelfa, Ouled Djellal, M’Sila, Batna, Tebessa, and Khenchela.

Southern regions are also under alert for strong winds and considerable sandstorms. These conditions are anticipated to last from 9 AM until 6 PM and will impact the provinces of Ouargla, Ghardaia, El Menia, Timimoun, Adrar, In Salah, and Tamanrasset.
