Algiers, Algeria – DZWatch has learned that the national weather service has issued warnings for severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall affecting numerous provinces across the country. A special weather bulletin indicates that rainfall accumulations could locally exceed 70 millimeters.
The initial warning, commencing at 3:00 PM today, Monday, is expected to remain in effect until 6:00 AM on Wednesday. Provinces included in this alert are: Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Oran, Mostaganem, Chlef, Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Mascara, Ain Defla, Blida, Medea, and Bouira.
A secondary alert has also been issued, forecasting locally significant thunderstorms starting at 3:00 PM today, Monday, and continuing until dawn tomorrow, Tuesday. The provinces under this warning are: Relizane, Tissemsilt, Tiaret, Saida, Sidi Bel Abbes, El Bayadh, Naama, Bechar, Jijel, and Skikda.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions, including avoiding unnecessary travel, securing loose objects, and staying informed about the latest weather updates. The weather service urges citizens to exercise caution and be prepared for potential flooding and disruptions due to the heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
