Heavy Snowfall Warning Issued for Several Algerian Provinces

DZWatch Exclusive: The Algerian Meteorological Office has issued a severe weather warning for heavy snowfall across numerous provinces, particularly affecting areas above 800 meters in altitude.

Significant snowfall is anticipated, with accumulations potentially reaching 15 centimeters in lower-lying areas. Higher elevations, including the Chrea, Djurdjura, Babors, and Ouarsenis mountain ranges, could see accumulations exceeding 25 centimeters.

The snowfall is expected to commence around midday on Tuesday and persist through midday on Wednesday. A wide swath of provinces will be impacted, including Tlemcen, Naama, El Bayadh, Sidi Bel Abbes, Tiaret, Saida, Mascara, Tissemsilt, Ain Defla, Medea, Blida, Tipaza, Laghouat, Djelfa, M’Sila, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Jijel, Bejaia, and Setif.

A separate warning has been issued for areas above 900 meters, predicting snow accumulations of up to 10 centimeters. This warning is in effect from 11:00 PM on Tuesday until midday on Wednesday. Provinces affected by this secondary warning include Mila, Constantine, Skikda, Guelma, Souk Ahras, Oum El Bouaghi, Batna, and Khenchela.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay informed about the latest weather updates.
