Algiers – The Algerian Ministry of National Education is developing a new academic stream for secondary schools focused on Information Technology (IT) and computer science, DZWatch has learned. Minister Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui announced the initiative, stating that it aims to equip students with essential skills in these rapidly evolving fields.
The new stream is designed to prepare students for advanced studies in modern university disciplines, particularly at specialized higher education institutions focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. Minister Saadaoui emphasized the growing demand for graduates with expertise in these areas, both in academia and the professional world.
“These fields have become integral to the daily lives of our students,” the Minister stated, highlighting the need for a curriculum that reflects this reality.
The move aligns with a broader national strategy to strengthen the teaching of precise sciences in Algerian secondary schools. Following directives from the President and decisions made by the Council of Ministers, the Ministry is prioritizing the development of specialized secondary schools. These institutions will focus on providing students with a solid foundation in key scientific disciplines, ensuring a smoother and more effective transition to university-level studies. This initiative seeks to address future needs in various sectors by empowering students with fundamental knowledge in these scientific areas.
DZWatch will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates as they become available.
