Touadéra Secures New Term in Central African Republic

Bangui, Central African Republic – Faustin-Archange Touadéra has won another term as President of the Central African Republic, according to preliminary results announced by the National Elections Authority. The incumbent president secured 76.15% of the vote in the election held on December 28, 2025.

His main challenger, Anicet-Georges Dologuélé, came in second place with 14.66% of the vote, while former Prime Minister Henri-Marie Dondra finished third with 3.19%. Voter turnout was reported at 52.43%.

The election encompassed presidential, legislative, regional, and municipal polls. The Constitutional Court is scheduled to announce the final results in mid-January after reviewing potential appeals.

Touadéra, who was first elected in 2016 and re-elected in 2020 in a vote marred by fraud allegations, has faced increasing criticism since the adoption of a new constitution in 2023, which allows him to remain in power.

Dologuélé has disputed the results, claiming victory and alleging “serious irregularities.” Observers from the African Union described the election as “calm.” A spokesperson for President Touadéra dismissed these allegations as “baseless,” warning against the risk of “inciting chaos.” Dondra has called for a “complete annulment of the electoral process,” accusing the National Elections Authority of being “incapable of organizing a fair election.”

Opposition parties boycotted the election, denouncing the process as a “sham” and accusing state institutions, including the National Elections Authority and the Constitutional Court, of being under the control of the ruling power.
