Algiers, January 7, 2026 – The Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transportation held a coordination meeting via video conference to finalize preparations for the third phase of the national vehicle registration system implementation.
According to a statement released by the Ministry, this phase focuses on integrating all previously registered vehicles across the country into the new national information system. This will be achieved by leveraging existing vehicle registration data held at the provincial level.
The meeting centered on defining and refining the organizational and procedural measures necessary to ensure the comprehensive and effective rollout of the information system. Discussions also covered strategies to streamline the process and enhance the handling of registration files within the relevant departments.
The session provided a platform for representatives from various provinces to voice concerns and share insights gained from the previous two phases of the national information system implementation. These earlier phases, conducted in May and October of 2025, focused on vehicles imported by private residents under three years old, as well as new vehicles imported by individuals.
The successful implementation of this third phase is expected to significantly modernize and improve the efficiency of vehicle registration processes nationwide. The Ministry aims to create a unified, centralized system that will benefit both citizens and government agencies.
