DZWatch Exclusive: January 8, 2026 – Taxi services are gradually resuming operations across all provinces of the nation, according to an announcement made by the National Union of Taxi Transporters.
In a statement released today, the Union sought to reassure citizens, particularly travelers, that normalcy is returning and that the continuity of this essential public service is ensured through responsibility and commitment.
The Union expressed its “pride and appreciation for all transporters, taxi drivers, and goods carriers for their wise response to the Union’s calls, their sense of responsibility, and their prioritization of the nation’s and citizens’ interests above all else.”
The National Union of Taxi Transporters emphasized that “this high level of awareness demonstrated by the transportation community is a clear indication that Algeria has individuals determined to ensure the nation’s safety and stability.”
Furthermore, the Union highly valued “the call made by the President of the Council of the Nation, which reflects the level of institutional awareness within various Algerian state bodies and confirms their commitment to establishing a culture of dialogue and rapprochement.”
The Union asserted that “the wisdom of the Algerian state, led by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has reached an advanced level in bringing citizens closer to their institutions, fostering mutual trust, and strengthening national stability.” This gradual return to service is expected to alleviate transportation challenges faced by many Algerians.
