Algiers, December 9, 2025 – Prime Minister Sifi Ghrib presided over a government meeting today dedicated to reviewing several key policy areas.
The government continued its examination of the draft presidential decree concerning the national data governance system. This initiative aims to establish a legal framework for the management and security of public data of national importance, a crucial step in modernizing Algeria’s digital infrastructure.
Furthermore, acting on directives issued by the President during the Council of Ministers meeting on November 30, 2025, the government reviewed proposals for the revaluation of retirement pensions and allowances. These proposals will be presented to the upcoming Council of Ministers for final decision.
As part of the ongoing effort to realize the nation’s digital transformation, in accordance with presidential commitments, the government heard three presentations. These presentations covered the results of strategic projects completed in the digital sector, the completion and operational launch of the first national data center, and the creation of a national database designed to facilitate informed decision-making across various sectors.
Finally, as part of the ongoing monitoring of major infrastructure projects, the government received an update on the progress of the project to construct the access road connecting the East-West Highway to the Port of Djen Djen. This connection, spanning 110 kilometers from the El Eulma interchange in Setif province, will significantly improve access to the port and facilitate trade.
The government’s focus remains on modernizing the country and improving the lives of its citizens through strategic investments and policy initiatives.
