Oran, Algeria – Law enforcement in Oran has successfully dismantled two criminal networks specializing in vehicle theft, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals. The operations, conducted by the Anti-Vehicle Theft Squad, represent a significant blow to organized crime in the region.
According to a statement released by police officials, the first operation was initiated following a citizen’s report of a stolen vehicle. A thorough investigation, utilizing both field work and technical analysis, led to the identification and apprehension of the network’s alleged mastermind. Subsequent investigations revealed the suspect’s involvement in the theft of three vehicles, culminating in the arrest of three additional members of the ring.
In a separate operation, police apprehended three individuals implicated in the violent theft of two vehicles. The victims reported being threatened with bladed weapons during the incidents. Following formal complaints, investigators were able to locate and arrest the suspects, recovering one of the stolen vehicles.
All seven suspects have been presented before the Public Prosecutor at the El Senia Court and the Public Prosecutor at the Flaoucen Court. Pre-trial detention orders have been issued in all cases.
These successful operations underscore the ongoing commitment of the National Security services to combat crime in all its forms, particularly vehicle theft, and to enhance the safety and security of the citizens of Oran.
