VP Vance Urges Europe to Take Trump’s Greenland Remarks Seriously

Washington D.C. – U.S. Vice President Jay Dee Vance has called on European nations to take President Donald Trump’s statements regarding Greenland with the utmost seriousness. This comes amidst escalating rhetoric from the American President concerning the Arctic territory, which is under Danish sovereignty but enjoys considerable autonomy.

Speaking at a press briefing at the White House, Vance accused Denmark, a NATO member, and other European countries of failing to adequately protect the strategically important island from alleged Russian and Chinese influence. He suggested a coordinated European response is vital, following the White House’s earlier announcement this week that Trump is considering purchasing Greenland, even hinting at potential military options under the guise of U.S. national security.

“I think my advice to European leaders, and frankly anyone else, would be to take the President of the United States very seriously,” Vance stated in response to a question about the Danish territory.

“What we are asking our European friends to do is to take the security of that landmass seriously, because if they don’t, the United States is going to have to do something about it,” he continued. “I will leave what that something is to the President as we continue to engage in diplomacy with our European friends and with everyone on this particular subject.”

The Vice President’s remarks follow increased tensions after the recent military operation in Caracas. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to meet with officials from both Denmark and Greenland next week to discuss the matter further.

President Trump has long expressed interest in acquiring Greenland, escalating his rhetoric following last week’s controversial military action where U.S. forces apprehended Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife in Caracas.
