Algiers – Capital police have successfully thwarted a major fireworks smuggling operation, seizing illicit pyrotechnics valued at over 13 billion centimes, authorities announced today.

The operation, conducted by the 3rd Judicial Police District of Algiers, El Biar, followed intensive field investigations carried out by specialized services, under the direct supervision of the competent regional Public Prosecutor’s Office. The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects allegedly involved in smuggling, possession, and storage of fireworks for illegal sale.

According to an official statement, the raid led to the seizure of more than 3,313,000 units of fireworks and pyrotechnic devices. These were intended for illegal distribution within the capital, posing a significant threat to public safety and property.
