Algiers Police Seize Over 3 Million Fireworks Units

Algiers – Law enforcement authorities in Algiers have successfully dismantled an illegal operation involving the smuggling, possession, and storage of fireworks intended for unauthorized sale. The operation, conducted by officers from the 3rd Judicial Police District of El Biar, resulted in the apprehension of two suspects.

Investigations, carried out under the supervision of the territorially competent Public Prosecutor’s Office, culminated in the seizure of a massive cache of pyrotechnic devices. Authorities confiscated over 3,313,000 individual units of firecrackers and fireworks.

The seized items represent a significant haul, preventing potentially dangerous materials from reaching the public, especially during periods of heightened celebrations where the use of fireworks often spikes. The illicit sale and unregulated use of fireworks pose considerable safety risks, including fire hazards and personal injuries.

Following the completion of all necessary legal procedures, the two individuals apprehended in connection with this case have been presented before the Public Prosecutor’s Office. They now face judicial proceedings related to their alleged involvement in the illegal fireworks operation. The authorities are committed to ensuring that those who engage in such activities are held accountable for their actions, thereby safeguarding the well-being of the community.

This successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat illegal trade and ensure public safety in Algiers. The authorities remain vigilant in their pursuit of those who seek to profit from illicit activities that endanger the lives and property of citizens.
