Algiers, January 11, 2026 – Ahmed Belayat has been elected as the new President of the National Public Contractors Union (NPCU), the organization announced on Sunday. The election took place during the union’s general assembly on Saturday.
Belayat, who also serves as the Director-General of the National Housing Bank, expressed his gratitude to the members of the union for their confidence in him. He acknowledged the significance of his election, stating that leading the NPCU is a considerable responsibility.
“I am deeply honored by the trust placed in me by the members of the NPCU,” Belayat stated. “I am committed to ensuring the union plays a pivotal role in supporting national development programs and fostering economic and social growth across the nation.”
Belayat emphasized the union’s dedication to promoting the activities of public enterprises and strengthening their role in implementing projects of strategic importance to Algeria.
