International Drug Ring Busted in Relizane, Algeria

Relizane, Algeria – A major victory has been secured by law enforcement in Relizane, with the dismantling of a significant international network involved in the trafficking of psychotropic substances. The operation, conducted by the anti-narcotics unit of the Relizane police, marks a crucial step in combating organized crime in the region.

The criminal organization was allegedly involved in the possession, import, transport, and storage of psychotropic drugs, with the intent to distribute them illegally. Furthermore, the network is suspected of transnational criminal activity, including laundering money obtained through their illicit operations.

According to sources within the security services, the operation led to the arrest of 12 individuals believed to be members of the network. Authorities also seized 15,780 capsules of psychotropic substances and over 80 million centimes in cash, representing the proceeds from their illegal drug sales.

In addition to the arrests and drug seizure, three vehicles used to transport the narcotics were confiscated. The success of the operation is attributed to meticulous field investigations and advanced technical surveillance, which allowed authorities to effectively track and apprehend the network’s members.

The suspects have been brought before the relevant judicial authorities, and investigations are ongoing to uncover any potential extensions of the network and identify accomplices both within Algeria and abroad. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts of the General Directorate of National Security to combat organized crime and safeguard public health and security.
