Opel Chooses Algeria for New North African Production Plant

Algiers, Algeria – Global automotive giant Opel has announced Algeria as the location for its new manufacturing plant in North Africa. This decision marks a significant step in the company’s strategy to expand its industrial presence in the Middle East and Africa region.

According to Opel CEO Florian Huettl, the move represents a crucial phase in Opel’s international expansion. In a statement, Huettl emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainable growth and long-term investment in promising markets like Algeria.

Huettl noted that Algeria has been a focal point for Opel over the past two years. Growing partnerships have culminated in the decision to establish a new production unit, designed to meet local market demands and support the company’s European manufacturing network.

Opel’s management recently held a working session in Algiers with the Executive Director of Operations for the Middle East and Africa region. Discussions centered on the development of the new site and the integration of additional Opel models into the national industrial ecosystem.
