Algeria Eyes 2026 as Year of National Export Surge

The Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Kamal Rezig, inaugurated the first National Exhibition of Algerian Export Products today at the Mohamed Ben Ahmed Conference Center in Oran. This significant economic event, organized by the Ministry of Trade and Export Promotion, showcases the products of nearly 200 public and private production companies operating in diverse sectors, including iron and steel, pharmaceuticals, food processing, construction materials, textiles, and more.

During discussions with economic operators, Minister Rezig emphasized the crucial role of the ceramics sector in the national economy. He highlighted its transformation from an importer to an exporter to four continents within a few short years. In this context, he revealed the ministry’s intention to organize a national ceramics exhibition in Batna, in collaboration with local authorities.

Speaking to the media, the Minister explained that the exhibition serves as a premier platform to showcase exported products, presenting a sample of the output from various companies and economic operators. He noted the high quality and diversity of the products, attributing this success to the patience and reforms implemented by the government under the President’s program since 2020.

“Today, we are proud of the quality of these products exported to Europe, Asia, America, and Africa. We observe their great diversity, and the number of exporters is constantly increasing. This is expected to rise in the coming years, making the event larger and more impactful,” Rezig stated.

The Minister further indicated that the exhibition allows citizens and operators to witness the product quality and the level of technology and expertise that economic actors now possess, making these products suitable for export. He also affirmed that the exhibition was organized in collaboration and coordination with other ministerial sectors to ensure that these products reach as many countries as possible, with some products being exported to Europe and others to Africa, covering four continents.

The Minister called for the involvement of banks and logistics institutions to establish solid cooperation between the concerned parties and support the development of Algerian exports to strengthen this process. The exhibition, which runs until January 16th, aims to provide a distinguished economic platform to highlight the export potential of Algerian institutions, promote the quality and diversity of national products, and create opportunities for cooperation and partnership with economic operators. The focus is on making 2026 a landmark year for Algerian exports. This event underscores Algeria’s commitment to diversifying its economy and boosting its presence in the global market.
