Algiers, Algeria – Northern regions of Algeria are bracing for a significant shift in weather conditions starting this Saturday, as a strong low-pressure system approaches the country. The system, accompanied by a cold air mass, is expected to bring widespread weather disturbances, including substantial rainfall and snowfall in the interior highlands.
According to meteorological data, relatively stable weather will persist until Friday. However, isolated showers of varying intensity are possible, particularly in the western and southwestern provinces, as early as Wednesday.
Beginning Saturday, a gradual change in weather patterns is anticipated. The western regions are expected to be the first affected, experiencing cold temperatures and heavy rainfall. Snowfall is also predicted in higher elevations, potentially extending to lower altitudes. These disturbances are then expected to spread eastward, impacting central regions by midday and eventually reaching the eastern provinces.
Forecasts indicate that this unstable weather will continue throughout the week, with notably cold conditions prevailing, especially during the morning and evening hours. Minimum temperatures in the interior regions are expected to range between -4 and 2 degrees Celsius, while coastal areas will see temperatures between 4 and 7 degrees Celsius. Southern regions are projected to experience temperatures between 3 and 10 degrees Celsius.
Maximum temperatures along the coast are forecast to be between 14 and 20 degrees Celsius, and between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius in the interior, highlighting the clear arrival of winter weather. Residents, especially those using roads in mountainous areas, are advised to exercise caution.
