Israeli Forces Accused of Abuse, Arrests Near Ramallah

Israeli forces are under scrutiny following reports of abuse and arrests of three Palestinians east of Ramallah in the West Bank. The incident allegedly occurred at a military checkpoint erected near the Karamelo junction and the village of Al-Taybeh.

According to local sources, the three Palestinians were subjected to degrading treatment, reportedly forced to remove their clothing in cold weather conditions before being detained. Palestinian platforms and activists have circulated what they claim are images documenting the alleged abuse.

The reported incident comes amid heightened tensions in the West Bank since the escalation of conflict in Gaza on October 8, 2023. There has been a noted increase in activity by the Israeli army and settlers, including raids, arrests, property destruction, and expansion of settlement projects. These actions have drawn condemnation as violations of international law.

Official Palestinian data indicates that Israeli actions in the West Bank have resulted in a significant number of casualties. Reportedly, at least 1106 Palestinians have been killed, approximately 11,000 injured, and over 21,000 arrested since the beginning of the increased tensions.

The Israeli military has not yet issued a statement regarding the specific allegations of abuse. This is a developing story and DZWatch will continue to provide updates as they become available.

This report will be updated as more information becomes available.
