The Italian Ambassador to Algeria, Alberto Cutillo, has lauded the robust economic partnership between Algeria and Italy, emphasizing Italy’s readiness to further expand collaboration across various sectors. Ambassador Cutillo highlighted Algeria’s pivotal role as Italy’s primary economic partner in Africa, particularly in securing its energy needs.
During a courtesy visit with the President of the Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil, the Ambassador affirmed the strong historical ties between the two nations, rooted in shared cultural heritage and Italy’s solidarity during the Algerian War of Independence. This shared history, he noted, has laid a solid foundation for a strategic partnership built on mutual trust and respect.
Goudjil emphasized the renewed dynamism in bilateral relations, especially following President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s visit to Rome, which injected fresh momentum into the strategic partnership. He also acknowledged productive meetings with the President of the Italian Senate, Ignazio La Russa, emphasizing that political and parliamentary coordination has become a crucial tool for deepening institutional cooperation.
Ambassador Cutillo reiterated Algeria’s critical role in ensuring the stability of Italy’s energy supplies, commending Algeria’s unwavering commitment to contributing positively in this vital area. He also advocated for expanding cooperation into new domains, leveraging Italian expertise to support development and infrastructure projects, particularly in transport and road safety. He expressed Italy’s willingness to share its expertise and technology to enhance these sectors in Algeria.
Goudjil showcased the vast potential of the Algerian market for Italian investors, particularly following recent legislative reforms aimed at improving the investment climate. He emphasized the opportunities available across various sectors, encouraging Italian businesses to explore and capitalize on these prospects.
