Béchar-Tindouf-Gara Djebilet Railway Enters Final Testing Phase

Algiers – The national agency responsible for railway investment studies and monitoring has initiated final technical trials on the new Béchar-Tindouf-Gara Djebilet railway line, utilizing a commercial train. This follows successful preliminary tests conducted in recent months.

The first day of testing involved traversing the route between Béchar station and Hassi Khebi station, passing through Abadla, Hamaquir, and Tebelbala stations. The second day will focus on testing the segment extending from Hassi Khebi towards Gara Djebilet. This comprehensive evaluation aims to assess the line’s performance and the functionality of its equipment.

These trials represent the final stage of verification, ensuring the technical and structural readiness of the railway before its official commissioning and entry into service. The priority is to guarantee the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

This strategic project is expected to significantly enhance the railway transport system in the southwest of the country. Beyond transporting heavy mining materials from the Gara Djebilet mines, the line will also provide passenger and freight services between various stations along the route. This will boost economic activity and connect inland areas to the national network.
