The Independent National Elections Authority announced Wednesday that the national electorate has surpassed 24.5 million voters following the periodic review of electoral lists for 2025. The updated figure includes Algerian citizens both within the country and abroad.

In a statement detailing the results of the review, which spanned from October 20th to November 18th, the Authority clarified that the total number of registered voters prior to the review stood at 24,315,551. This number comprised 23,486,061 voters residing in Algeria and 865,490 residing outside the country.

Following the completion of administrative objections and legal appeals, the total electorate now stands at 24,503,060.

Specifically, within Algeria, the review process resulted in 512,188 new registrations and 364,431 deletions, bringing the total number of registered voters within the country to 23,633,818. For Algerian citizens residing abroad, there were 37,213 new registrations and 33,461 deletions, resulting in a total of 869,242 registered voters.

The Authority emphasized that this periodic review was conducted in accordance with the Constitution, particularly Articles 56 and 202, and in compliance with Organic Law 21-01 concerning the electoral system, as amended, specifically Articles 53 to 71. The review also followed a series of decrees related to the management and use of the national voter registry, the opening and closing dates of the review period, the operational rules for electoral list review committees, and the appointment of members to these committees both domestically and in diplomatic and consular missions abroad. The mobilization of Wilaya-level coordinators within the Independent National Elections Authority also supported the organization of this periodic review.
