Turkey Warns Against Use of Force Against Iran

Ankara has issued a strong statement regarding the escalating tensions surrounding Iran, asserting that it “will not tolerate” any potential use of violence against the country. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made the remarks amid continued threats from the United States administration regarding potential military action against Tehran, fueled by ongoing public protests within Iran that have persisted for nearly three weeks.

Speaking at a press conference in Istanbul on Thursday, Minister Fidan expressed hope that disputes between Tehran and Washington could be resolved through negotiation, voicing strong opposition to any military solutions. He emphasized that Ankara would continue to propose diplomatic initiatives concerning Iran, stating that the top priority is to avoid destabilizing the region.

“Our focus remains on de-escalation and finding peaceful resolutions,” Fidan stated. “Any act of aggression would have far-reaching consequences, and we urge all parties to exercise restraint and engage in constructive dialogue.”

Turning to the Palestinian issue, the Turkish Foreign Minister accused Israel of obstructing the implementation of the Gaza agreement. He attributed any progress made to pressure from the United States. Fidan alleged that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s objective is to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

Regarding the situation in Syria, Hakan Fidan called on the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to “demonstrate goodwill and break free from the cycle of violence.” He described the presence of the SDF west of the Euphrates River, including in the Deir Hafer region, as “illegal.” Fidan urged the SDF to adhere to the agreement signed with the Syrian government on March 10th, which stipulates the integration of the SDF into state security and political structures.
