Test Train Reaches Tindouf Station on Western Mining Line

Tindouf, Algeria – A test train belonging to the National Rail Transport Company arrived at the passenger station in Tindouf this afternoon, marking the second day of trials on the Western Mining Railway Line. This development was confirmed in a statement released by the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport.

The train will continue its journey towards the Gara Djebilet station. The purpose of this ongoing assessment is to evaluate the readiness of this specific section of the railway line before its official commissioning.

The much-anticipated commencement of operations for the Bechar-Tindouf-Gara Djebilet Western Mining Railway Line project is scheduled for this month. This launch is in direct response to instructions issued by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during the Council of Ministers meeting held on November 16, 2025.

The operational readiness of this line is considered a crucial step in facilitating the transport of minerals from the Gara Djebilet mine, a project of significant economic importance to the region. The railway is expected to streamline the process of resource extraction and distribution, contributing to the overall growth of the mining sector. Further updates on the official launch date will be provided as they become available.
