Severe Weather Alert: Heavy Rain and Snow Expected Across Algeria

DZWatch Exclusive: Algeria is bracing for a significant weather disturbance tomorrow, Sunday, with heavy rainfall and substantial snowfall predicted across several regions. The national weather service has issued orange and yellow alerts, urging residents to exercise caution.

Northern regions are expected to experience rainfall, particularly in the eastern and central areas, while the western regions will see partly cloudy skies. Snowfall is anticipated in areas above 1000 meters in altitude.

Orange alerts for heavy rain have been issued for the following provinces: Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Bouira, Bordj Bou Arreridj, M’Sila, Djelfa, Tiaret, and Laghouat. Yellow alerts for rainfall are in effect for Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Blida, Ain Defla, Medea, Tissemsilt, Jijel, Setif, Annaba, El Tarf, Biskra, Ouled Djellal, and Ghardaia.

Furthermore, the weather service has warned of heavy snowfall in several interior provinces. An orange alert for heavy snow is in place for Tissemsilt, Tiaret, Djelfa, and Laghouat. A yellow alert for snowfall covers Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Blida, Medea, Ain Defla, Bordj Bou Arreridj, and M’Sila.

Temperatures along the coast will range from 12 to 18 degrees Celsius. Inland areas will experience temperatures between 3 and 16 degrees Celsius. Wind speeds are expected to reach up to 30 kilometers per hour.

Southern regions will see a mix of sunny and cloudy conditions, with rain expected in the southwest and north-central Sahara. Temperatures will range from 13 to 32 degrees Celsius. Wind speeds could reach up to 60 kilometers per hour, requiring caution, especially on open roads.
