Draft Gaza Peace Council Charter Reveals Trump’s Conditions

A draft charter for a proposed Gaza Peace Council reveals that countries will be required to contribute a minimum of $1 billion to participate. According to the draft, former U.S. President Donald Trump would wield significant control over the council and its funds.

The draft charter outlines the structure and objectives of the proposed international body. Trump is slated to serve as the inaugural chairman of the council. He would also have the authority to decide which nations are invited to join. While decisions are intended to be made by majority vote, with each member nation having one vote, all resolutions would ultimately require Trump’s approval.

Membership in the council would be capped at three years from the charter’s effective date, renewable at Trump’s discretion. However, this three-year limit would not apply to member states contributing over $1 billion in cash to the Peace Council during its first year.

Critics fear that Trump is aiming to create a rival organization to the United Nations, which he has frequently criticized. The draft charter describes the council as an “international organization seeking to promote stability, restore good and lawful governance, and ensure lasting peace in areas affected by or threatened by conflict.” The council would be formally established upon ratification of the charter by three member states.

According to the document, Trump would also be responsible for approving the official seal of the group.

Trump has reportedly invited several world leaders, including Argentina’s President Javier Milei and Canada’s Prime Minister Marc Carney, to be part of a special Gaza council operating under the broader Peace Council umbrella. This plan has already drawn criticism from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who stated that the details were not coordinated with Israel.

Sources indicate that several European nations have been invited to join the Peace Council. The draft charter reportedly emphasizes the importance of financial contributions from member states.
