Algiers, January 18, 2026 – Several provinces across Algeria are bracing for thunderstorms, according to the National Meteorological Office. A weather alert has been issued, predicting significant rainfall and potential localized flooding.
The meteorological office forecasts thunderstorms commencing at 3:00 PM today and continuing until 3:00 AM tomorrow, Monday, January 19th. The affected provinces include Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Blida, Medea, Ain Defla, Beni Abbes, Timimoun, Adrar, and Tindouf.
Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions, including avoiding unnecessary travel and securing outdoor objects that could be displaced by strong winds. The National Meteorological Office urges vigilance and encourages citizens to stay informed about weather updates.
In a separate advisory, the meteorological service also issued a warning for thunderstorms affecting the eastern provinces of Jijel, El Tarf, Guelma, Souk Ahras, and Oum El Bouaghi. This alert remains in effect until dawn on Monday.
