DOHA – First General Saïd Chengriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, participated in the official opening ceremony of the ninth edition of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2026) in Qatar on Monday. This participation marks the second day of his official visit to the Gulf nation.
Following the inauguration of the prominent international event, a global platform showcasing the latest innovations in maritime defense, General Chengriha and his accompanying delegation toured several pavilions of the exhibition. He observed advanced weaponry systems and high-tech equipment, receiving detailed technical explanations from representatives of the participating entities.
During the visit, General Chengriha was received by His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs. General Chengriha expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality, emphasizing the deep fraternal relations between the two countries.
The meeting served as an opportunity to review prospects for military cooperation between Algeria and Qatar, highlighting the growing momentum in this area due to the attention given by the leaders of both countries to strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership. The Qatari official praised the advanced level of military cooperation, affirming the shared commitment to its development and expansion.
Furthermore, First General Chengriha held a cordial meeting with Staff Lieutenant General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai, Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces, focusing on ways to enhance military cooperation in line with the strong Algerian-Qatari relations. At the conclusion of both meetings, symbolic gifts were exchanged, reflecting the depth of ties and mutual appreciation.
Algeria’s high-level presence at DIMDEX 2026 underscores its position as an active partner in promoting regional maritime security and its commitment to keeping pace with technological developments in the field of defense, serving the interests of stability and joint cooperation.
