Algiers, Algeria – The National Meteorological Office has issued a severe weather warning for several provinces across Algeria, forecasting heavy rainfall and significant snowfall throughout the day.
A special weather bulletin indicates that heavy snow is expected in areas with altitudes exceeding 1000 meters. Accumulation is predicted to reach over 20 cm in the provinces of Tissemsilt, Tiaret, Naama, El Bayadh, Laghouat, and Djelfa until midday today.
Furthermore, another bulletin warns of heavy snowfall in regions above 1200 meters, with accumulations reaching up to 10 cm. This alert affects the provinces of Batna, Khenchela, and Tebessa, also lasting until midday.
In addition to snowfall, several provinces are bracing for torrential rainfall. The wilayas of Mostaganem, Chlef, Tipaza, Relizane, Tiaret, Ain Defla, Tissemsilt, Medea, and Blida are expected to experience heavy thunderstorms with rainfall exceeding 120mm until midday.
The meteorological services also anticipate continued heavy thunderstorms with rainfall exceeding 60mm until 3 PM in the afternoon, impacting the provinces of Algiers, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, M’Sila, Djelfa, Laghouat, Saida, and Mascara.
Eastern provinces are also under alert for heavy thunderstorms, with rainfall exceeding 60mm expected to continue until 6 PM this evening. The affected regions include Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf, Setif, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Mila, Constantine, Guelma, Souk Ahras, Khenchela, Oum El Bouaghi, Tebessa, and Batna.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay informed about the evolving weather conditions.
