Algiers, Algeria – Algeria’s Civil Defense Directorate General reported a series of interventions across several provinces on Wednesday following a period of unstable weather conditions.
In Tipaza province, Civil Defense units responded to flooding in multiple municipalities. In Hadjout, accumulated rainwater was cleared from the entrance of ten commercial establishments in the 18 Fevrier neighborhood. In Koléa, rainwater was pumped out of two homes in the Ksarli neighborhood. Furthermore, a family of four was evacuated from their residence after the Oued Mazafran river overflowed, affecting their home on National Road 67 towards Berbessa.
The Algiers province saw several isolated incidents. In Bir Touta, a palm tree fell onto electrical wires in front of the district headquarters. Another palm tree fell onto the road adjacent to the Al-Atiq Mosque in Kouba. In Oued Koriche, a tree fell on a tourist vehicle in the El-Akhawa Bouchichi neighborhood, but no injuries were reported.
Landslides in Bologhine partially blocked the entrance to a residence in the 192 Consulate Zaghara neighborhood. In Bourouba, a partial balcony collapse occurred due to falling stones from an old building on 31 Saoud Achour Street.
The Civil Defense Directorate General emphasized that its interventions are ongoing. They urged citizens to exercise caution, especially given the continued unstable weather. The Directorate encourages the public to immediately report any emergencies through the designated green numbers.
