Athens – During an official visit to Athens, Greece, Sofiane Chaib, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, reiterated the importance of strengthening the bond between the Algerian diaspora and their homeland.
Mr. Chaib presided over the second session of the Algerian-Greek Joint Committee. He also held a meeting with members of the Algerian community residing in Greece, providing an opportunity for direct engagement and dialogue.
The meeting coincided with the celebration of Yennayer, the Amazigh New Year, organized by the Algerian Embassy in Athens. The festive atmosphere reflected the richness of the national cultural heritage and the pride of the Algerian community in their identity and traditions.
The occasion served as a platform to listen to the concerns of the diaspora and exchange views on various issues of interest. The Secretary of State emphasized that this meeting is part of a continuous effort to strengthen ties between Algerians residing abroad and their homeland, in line with the directives of the highest authorities aimed at paying special attention to the national community.
Mr. Chaib reaffirmed the importance of involving Algerian talents abroad in the national development process and enhancing their sense of national belonging. This aims to consolidate the role of the diaspora as an active partner in supporting development efforts and building bridges of cooperation between Algeria and their host countries. He stated that the Algerian government is committed to facilitating the contributions of its citizens abroad to the economic and social progress of the nation.
