Benjamina, Chad – Algeria presented its extensive experience in the hydrocarbon sector and professional training at the International Mining, Quarrying, and Hydrocarbons Exhibition, SIMICA Chad 2026, held here on Wednesday. The presentation took place during a specialized workshop featuring representatives from Algeria’s national oil company, Naftal, and the Algerian Petroleum Institute.

The CEO of Naftal, Djamel Cherdoud, and the Director General of the Algerian Petroleum Institute, Mohamed Khodja, detailed Algeria’s approach to hydrocarbon development, highlighting what they termed a “successful Algerian model” while also addressing the significant challenges facing Chad’s extractive industries.

The workshop provided a valuable platform for the exchange of ideas and expertise on strategies to develop the extractive industries sector across the African continent. Participants examined Algeria’s pioneering experience in hydrocarbons and training, emphasizing the importance of good governance, human capacity building, knowledge localization, and technology transfer as crucial factors for achieving sustainable development and creating genuine added value.

Representatives from Algeria underscored the pivotal role of national institutions, particularly Naftal and the Algerian Petroleum Institute, in developing the hydrocarbon value chain, enhancing training and qualification programs, and fostering mutually beneficial African partnerships. This participation underscores Algeria’s prominent presence at SIMICA Chad 2026.

The exhibition’s opening ceremony was attended by a high-level official delegation, led by the Minister of State and Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, representing the President of the Republic. Algeria’s presence as the guest of honor reaffirms its commitment to supporting African cooperation and strengthening South-South partnerships, while sharing its expertise with fellow African nations, particularly in the areas of exploration, production, refining, and training.
