Trump Claims Imminent Trials Over 2020 Election ‘Fraud’

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has asserted that trials are forthcoming for individuals allegedly involved in what he describes as the ‘fraudulent 2020 election’. This refers to the presidential election which he lost to his Democratic rival, Joe Biden.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump stated that ‘everyone now knows’ the 2020 presidential election was rigged and that ‘people will soon be tried for what they did’.

Trump has repeatedly and falsely claimed that former President Biden did not legitimately win the 2020 presidential election. He did not specify who would be prosecuted or what charges they would face. The Department of Justice has not yet issued a statement on the matter.

It is important to note that despite Trump’s allegations of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election, federal judges and election officials have refuted these claims. In 2022, then Attorney General William Barr, appointed by Trump himself, stated that there was no evidence of widespread fraud in the presidential election.

Trump brought up the 2020 election while discussing the war in Ukraine, arguing that the conflict, which began in 2022, would not have occurred if the U.S. presidential election had not been ‘rigged’.
