Algiers, January 22, 2026 – Algeria and Italy have signed a series of twinning and partnership agreements aimed at bolstering collaboration in higher education. The agreements were formalized today between several Algerian higher education institutions and the University of Genoa, along with the Regional Agency for Economic Development and Finance of Liguria, Italy.
The signing ceremony was held under the auspices of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamal Baddari, and in the presence of the Italian Ambassador to Algeria, Alberto Cutillo, the President of the University of Genoa, and his accompanying delegation.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, these agreements are designed to strengthen cooperation and exchange in research, facilitate the transfer of expertise in entrepreneurship, emerging companies, and business incubators, and promote mobility between the two countries for the benefit of the academic community.
The partnerships encompass a range of Algerian universities, including: the University of Medea, the Houari Boumediene University of Science and Technology – Bab Ezzouar, the University of Oran 1, the University of Tlemcen, the University of Constantine 3, the University of Ouargla, and the National Polytechnic School of Algiers (ENP).
These collaborative efforts represent a significant step towards fostering stronger academic ties between Algeria and Italy, promising enhanced research opportunities and the development of entrepreneurial skills among students and faculty. The focus on business incubators and emerging companies underscores a commitment to driving innovation and economic growth in both nations.
