Road Closures Across Algeria Due to Heavy Snow and Flooding

Significant disruptions to road traffic are being reported across Algeria due to recent severe weather conditions. Heavy snowfall and torrential rains have led to the closure of several key routes, according to official sources.

The National Gendarmerie has confirmed that National Route 33, a vital link between Tizi Ouzou and Bouira provinces, is currently impassable. In Tizi Ouzou, traffic is halted at Assoul in the municipality of Ait Boumahdi, while in Bouira, the Ikoukar area of Bechloul municipality is also closed due to heavy snow accumulation.

In central and western regions, rising river levels have contributed to further road closures. National Route 01A, connecting Djelfa and Laghouat provinces, is blocked at the Oued El Mait bridge in Hassi Bahbah, Djelfa province.

Blida province is experiencing disruptions on Wilaya Route 110, the link to Tipaza province, due to flooding at the Ben Hamdani center in Ben Khelil municipality.

Further west, in Tlemcen province, National Route 22, which connects Tirni and Sebdou, is closed at the village of Tel Tirni. In Ghilizane province, Wilaya Route 52, the road to Mostaganem province, is blocked due to flooding at Douar Essalihia in Beni Zentis municipality.

Motorists are advised to avoid these areas and seek alternative routes until further notice. Authorities are working to clear the affected roads and restore normal traffic flow. Stay tuned to DZWatch for updates on this developing situation.
