Severe Thunderstorms Forecast Across Multiple Algerian Provinces

Algiers, January 25, 2026 – The National Meteorological Office has issued a special weather advisory, warning of significant thunderstorms and heavy rainfall expected to impact several provinces across Algeria.

The advisory indicates that rainfall amounts could locally exceed 50mm in the provinces of Mostaganem, Chlef, Mascara, Relizane, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, and Ain Defla. Residents in these areas are urged to take necessary precautions.

A separate weather alert forecasts thunderstorms with rainfall reaching up to 40mm, commencing at 10:00 PM tonight and lasting until midday on Monday, for the provinces of Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Blida, Medea, and Bouira.

Furthermore, the meteorological services have cautioned about thunderstorms potentially exceeding 50mm of rainfall, beginning at 2:00 AM and continuing until 11:00 PM on Monday, in the provinces of Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, El Tarf, Setif, Guelma, and Souk Ahras.

Authorities are advising citizens to stay informed about the evolving weather conditions and to exercise caution during this period of inclement weather.
