Health Ministry Mobilizes Resources for Polio Vaccination Drive

The Ministry of Health has reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing national polio vaccination campaign, ensuring the mobilization of medical and paramedical teams, logistical support, and close coordination with local stakeholders. This comprehensive effort aims to guarantee the successful execution of the final phase of the campaign under optimal organizational and health conditions.

In a statement released this Sunday, the Ministry announced the launch of the third phase of the national polio vaccination campaign, scheduled from January 25th to January 31st. This phase focuses on administering a supplementary dose of the inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) to reinforce the national health prevention strategy and bolster individual and collective immunity among children.

According to the Ministry, this phase is a continuation of efforts designed to solidify the protection previously acquired through the oral polio vaccine (OPV) and prevent severe forms of poliomyelitis. This initiative aligns with Algeria’s commitments to public health and established immunization programs.

The inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) has been an integral part of the national routine vaccination program since 2015. It is characterized by a high level of safety and efficacy, with minimal side effects.

The Ministry of Health urges all parents and guardians to take their children to designated health facilities for vaccination during the specified period. This is crucial for safeguarding children’s health, strengthening community immunity, and ensuring the protection of society against this debilitating disease.
