January 25, 2026 – Several roads across various provinces are currently impassable due to adverse weather conditions, including heavy snowfall and rising water levels. Affected regions include Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Djelfa, Blida, Tlemcen, and Relizane.
According to a statement released today by the National Gendarmerie, heavy snowfall has led to the closure of National Route 33, a key artery connecting the provinces of Tizi Ouzou and Bouira. The affected stretch lies between the Asoul area in Ait Boumahdi municipality and the Akouker area in Bechloul municipality.
Furthermore, rising water levels have forced the closure of National Route 1, which links the provinces of Djelfa and Laghouat. The closure specifically impacts the area around the Oued El Mait bridge in Hassi Bahbah municipality.
In Blida province, Provincial Route 110, connecting Blida and Tipaza, is closed at the Ben Hamdani center in Ben Khelil municipality due to flooding. Similarly, Provincial Route 52, linking Relizane and Mostaganem, is closed at Douar Essalahia in Beni Zentis municipality, also due to rising water levels.
Tlemcen province has also experienced road closures. National Route 22, connecting the municipalities of Tirni and Sebdou, is currently closed at the village of Tel Tirni in Tirni municipality because of flooding.
The National Gendarmerie has assured the public that traffic flow remains normal on all other routes. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and stay informed about the latest road conditions before travelling. DZWatch will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves.
