Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, commenced a working visit to the Republic of Niger today, Monday, according to a statement released by the Ministry.
The visit is primarily aimed at reviewing the latest developments concerning the activities of Sonatrach Group in Niger, with particular emphasis on monitoring the progress of the Sonatrach exploration and prospecting project within the Kafra block in northern Niger.
During his visit, Minister Arkab, accompanied by his delegation, is scheduled to hold meetings with Nigerien counterparts. These discussions will center on assessing the advancement of the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline project, a strategic initiative of significant importance to both nations. Furthermore, the meetings will explore avenues to strengthen coordination and consultation mechanisms among the various stakeholders involved in the project.
The Minister’s delegation includes Toufik Hakkar, CEO of Sonatrach Group, and Bouarara Cherif, General Manager of Sonatrach International Holding Corporation, along with senior officials from the Ministry.
This visit underscores Algeria’s commitment to fostering strong energy partnerships with its neighbors and advancing crucial infrastructure projects that contribute to regional economic development. The Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline, in particular, holds the potential to significantly enhance energy security and promote economic growth across the region.
