DZWatch Exclusive: Several Algerian provinces are bracing for strong winds and potential sandstorms today, according to a weather alert issued by the national meteorological services.
The alert, classified as Level 1 (Yellow), indicates that the following provinces are at risk of experiencing sandstorms: Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Oran, Mostaganem, Chlef, Sidi Bel Abbes, Mascara, Relizane, Naama, El Bayadh, Tiaret, Saida, Laghouat, Ghardaia, Illizi, Ouargla, El Oued, Touggourt, El M’Ghair, Biskra, Ouled Djellal, M’Sila, Djelfa, Bouira, Medea, Blida, Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf.
In a separate special weather bulletin, the National Office of Meteorology (ONM) warned of westerly to northwesterly winds reaching speeds between 70 and 80 km/h. This weather system is expected to persist until this evening and will affect the provinces of Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Jijel, Tipaza, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf.
Furthermore, the ONM has issued another alert concerning westerly to southwesterly winds, with speeds ranging from 60 to 70 km/h. These conditions are expected to continue until dawn on Tuesday, impacting the provinces of Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Oran, and Chlef.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and stay informed about the latest weather updates.
