President Abdelmadjid Tebboune affirmed today, Sunday, from Bechar, that the eternal message of the martyrs is a legacy capable of achieving victory in the battle for development. He highlighted that the implementation of the Gara Djebilet-Tindouf-Bechar mining railway line represents a step toward a strategic and historical national achievement.
In a speech delivered during the inauguration of this major strategic project, the President stated that this day is “a moment where we witness a step toward realizing a strategic and historical national achievement that was always described as a far-fetched dream.” He noted that this project has been realized “inspired by the driving national spirit that moved the consciences of our ancestors and provided them with the strength to face colonialism.”
The President added: “What a great challenge it is; it is the spirit of challenge of the righteous and great martyrs. Inspired by that spirit, we believed that with great determination comes great resolve,” emphasizing that the eternal message of the martyrs “is a legacy capable of achieving victory in the battle for development.”
The President explained that today’s symbolic celebration marks the completion of the massive line in a record time of no more than 20 months. He added that this period “is barely enough to build a high school, which sometimes requires three years,” noting that this project, which showcases “the Algeria of challenges,” was completed “with Algerian will, Algerian funding, and Algerian expertise, alongside Chinese partners.”
The President affirmed that this historical project reflects “an integrated strategic vision to value and invest in our natural resources and national wealth,” while also “connecting the Great South with the rest of the country’s regions.”
He pointed out that the inauguration of this mining line is the “first stage of a structured national project that will, in the near future, change the face of the region extending across our Great South.” He stated it contributes to “consecrating the goals of national economic orientations toward exploiting the resources in Gara Djebilet, launching the zinc and lead mine in Oued Amizour in Bejaia, as well as the project to build the railway line for the Bled El Hadba mine and the mining quay in Annaba.”
He added that all resources have been mobilized “to achieve the desired goals in a sovereign, proud, and victorious Algeria, which is advancing toward reaching those goals and breaking free from the grip of hydrocarbons by relying on our own capabilities.” This is possible “thanks to the wealth and blessings bestowed upon us in all regions of our country and the sincere national will and competencies capable of carrying Algeria forward, regardless of the effort and sacrifices required.”
He noted that “the figures and achievements realized in this great project, such as the bridges spanning 20 km and the track arrangements, could qualify for the Guinness World Records.” He described it as a “miracle of men who believed in their homeland and sacrificed for it,” expressing pride in all Algerians involved.
On the same occasion, the President expressed his “sincere gratitude and recognition to all those who supervised, monitored, and worked in difficult climatic conditions to achieve this great accomplishment.”
He concluded by saying: “I thank all the competencies managing the project, including workers and professionals from various categories, as well as the Chinese partners. I express my sincere thanks to all of them as we experience these historical moments in the path of challenge that we are undertaking with Algerian hands.”
