Algeria and Mali Seek New Momentum in Bilateral Relations

Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb held a telephone conversation on Sunday with his Malian counterpart, Major General Abdoulaye Maïga, at the instruction of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, as the two countries seek to strengthen bilateral relations and revive cooperation in various fields.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the two officials reaffirmed their commitment to the longstanding ties of brotherhood, solidarity and good neighborliness between the Algerian and Malian peoples.

During the talks, both sides highlighted the determination of the leaders of Algeria and Mali to give fresh momentum to bilateral relations and relaunch cooperation across various sectors.

As part of these efforts, Prime Minister Ghrieb extended an official invitation to his Malian counterpart to undertake a working visit to Algeria.

The telephone conversation also provided an opportunity to exchange views on international and regional issues of common interest.

Algeria and Mali reaffirmed their shared ambition to strengthen the Sahel’s role as a region of cooperation, exchange and joint development within an environment of security and stability.

The talks reflect efforts by both neighboring countries to reinforce dialogue and bilateral cooperation while promoting greater stability and development across the wider Sahel region.
