The Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Abdelmalek Tachrifet, presided over the opening of a national historical seminar on Tuesday at the ministry’s headquarters. The seminar was titled “The Epic of Sakiet Sidi Youssef: Blood United, Souls Embraced, Flags Raised, and History Written with Loyalty.”
In his opening remarks, the minister emphasized that February 8th of each year is a significant day in the history of Algerian-Tunisian relations. He stated that it recalls the tragedies of the painful past while simultaneously reflecting the strength of the brotherly bonds forged by the blood of martyrs, which have granted the bilateral relationship resilience and durability.
He further stressed that the shared historical memory of the Algerian and Tunisian peoples will remain an inexhaustible source for strengthening bilateral relations and consolidating the foundations of solidarity and cohesion. This is rooted in a firm belief in a shared destiny and blood, and the profound lessons of sacrifice and steadfastness contained within this memory.
Tachrifet highlighted that Algerian-Tunisian brotherly relations have experienced qualitative dynamics and increasing momentum in recent years. He attributed this to the high-level directives and wise vision of the leaders of the two brotherly countries, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his Tunisian counterpart, President Kais Saied, who have together contributed to a qualitative leap in elevating cooperation and bilateral coordination to advanced levels.
The seminar featured valuable scientific presentations by specialized Tunisian and Algerian professors and researchers. Additionally, it included live testimonies from individuals who lived through the event and lost family members as a result of this crime.
