Minister of State, Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, accompanied by the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Adjal, and their Burkinabe counterpart, the Minister of Energy, Mines and Quarries, Yacouba Zabré Gouba, oversaw on Friday the signing of a minutes of discussions reflecting the positive results of bilateral talks held between the two sides in Ouagadougou.
According to a ministry statement, this document enshrines the common will of both countries to elevate cooperation relations to the level of a strategic partnership in the fields of hydrocarbons, energy, and mines, in implementation of the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune aimed at strengthening African cooperation and consolidating the principle of South-South partnership.
The minutes of discussions include several priority cooperation areas, particularly in supplying Burkina Faso with petroleum products, developing cooperation in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and strengthening storage and distribution capacities. This is in addition to expanding the partnership in the electricity sector by supporting the national electricity company of Burkina Faso in production, transmission, distribution, maintenance, and equipment projects.
The document also covers supporting cooperation in the field of exploitation and processing of mineral resources, the exchange of expertise and experience, and the launch of training programs for Burkinabe officials and technicians in various specialties of hydrocarbons, electricity, and renewable energies.
Both parties agreed to establish joint follow-up mechanisms by forming sectoral working groups to ensure the effective implementation of what was agreed upon.
The signing of this document represents a new step in the process of consolidating relations of brotherhood and cooperation between Algeria and Burkina Faso, and a practical translation of the shared political will to build an effective African partnership based on mutual benefit and economic integration.
