Coordination between six ministerial sectors to accelerate the completion of the southern railway line

The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, chaired a meeting of the High Joint Ministerial Committee on Tuesday in Algiers. The committee is responsible for monitoring the financing and implementation procedures of the railway project connecting Laghouat, Ghardaia, and El Menia, spanning a distance of 495 kilometers.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Public Works, this meeting is part of the proactive follow-up for the project, which is funded by the African Development Bank. The session was dedicated to reviewing and adjusting various administrative, technical, and financial procedures required to ensure the actual commencement of construction works.

The meeting was attended by committee members representing the sectors of Public Works and Infrastructure, Interior and Local Authorities, Transport, Industry, Agriculture and Rural Development, Energy and Renewable Energy, and Water Resources.

Discussions focused on settling land status issues and removing all field obstacles and difficulties. Emphasis was placed on accelerating the pace of coordination between various stakeholders to adhere to the specified deadlines for realizing this strategic project.
