At least 486 agricultural holdings have been connected to the electricity grid in the province of Touggourt, as part of efforts to promote agricultural activity in the region, according to information obtained Wednesday from the Distribution Directorate of the National Electricity and Gas Company (Sonelgaz).
This investment program, which began implementation in 2021, covered various productive agricultural perimeters across the province, including large perimeters dedicated to strategic crops. This was achieved through the installation of 129 electrical transformers and a power grid totaling 272 km in length, as explained by the communications officer at the directorate, Mounia Bada.
The Distribution Directorate, in coordination with the provincial agricultural sector, is working to implement agricultural electricity projects on a wide scale. In this context, another 120 agricultural holdings are expected to be connected to electrical energy before the end of the current year, which will allow for extensive coverage of agricultural perimeters with this vital energy and contribute to promoting agricultural investment opportunities in various sectors within the province.
