A high-level ministerial delegation arrives in Bejaia

A high-level ministerial delegation conducted a working and inspection visit to the province of Bejaia on Thursday. According to a statement from the provincial authorities, the delegation included the Minister of State, Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, accompanied by the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, and the Secretary of State to the Minister of Energy and Mines in charge of Mines, Karima Bakir Tafer. The group also included the Director General of the Sonarem Group, the CEO of the National Enterprise for Non-Ferrous Mining Products and Useful Materials (ENOF), and several ministry officials.

During the visit, the Minister of State inspected the development work at the entrance of the zinc and lead mine. He emphasized that this mining project is among the most important strategic projects in Algeria’s mining sector, given its significant economic and developmental dimensions. He also stressed the necessity of precise and continuous monitoring of the various stages of project implementation to ensure progress according to the set deadlines, while respecting the highest technical standards for major mining projects.

The ministerial delegation listened to a technical presentation provided by the provincial Director of Public Works regarding the project to connect the zinc and lead mine to the East-West Highway. This project aims to facilitate transport and ensure the smooth movement of equipment and materials related to mining activities, supporting the project’s readiness to enter the exploitation phase under the best conditions.

The delegation met with the citizens of Ait Bouzid village, the owners of the lands involved in the project. They welcomed this strategic project, which will contribute to the valuation of national mining resources and strengthen economic sovereignty, in addition to creating significant job opportunities for the region’s youth and supporting the economic dynamics in the province of Bejaia.
