The Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Abdelhak Saihi, has announced that the scheduled pension increases for retirees will take effect starting May 1.
During a plenary session at the People’s National Assembly dedicated to oral questions, Saihi explained that the 10 percent increase for retirees will be implemented as of the first of next May.
The government official confirmed that Algeria is experiencing growing economic momentum that significantly contributes to supporting the labor market and combating unemployment. He noted that the country’s recorded economic growth level allows for the creation of more than 500,000 jobs annually, which strengthens economic dynamics and generates new employment opportunities.
The minister also highlighted the sector’s efforts in digitalization, describing it as one of the most effective ways to provide modern and efficient services in the fields of labor, employment, and social security. He added that digitalization plays a key role in improving performance and enhancing the quality of public services provided to citizens.
