40 people killed in traffic accidents in one week

Forty people were killed and 1,565 others injured in 1,333 traffic accidents across several provinces between March 8 and 14, according to a statement issued by Civil Protection on Tuesday.

The same source stated that the highest toll was recorded in Sétif province, where four people died and 91 others were injured in 82 traffic accidents.

Civil Protection units also provided first aid to 36 people suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.

During the same period, Civil Protection services extinguished 488 fires, including residential, industrial, and various other fires. Specifically, 91 fires were recorded in Algiers, 22 in Blida, and 21 in Oran.

Additionally, Civil Protection units rescued 430 people in danger and conducted 4,449 ambulance operations.
