The anti-drug and psychotropic substance trafficking unit of the M’Sila provincial security forces dismantled an organized criminal network specializing in psychotropic substance trafficking this week. The operation resulted in the seizure of 924,000 Pregabalin capsules and the arrest of three individuals.
According to a National Security statement, the operation was carried out after monitoring the criminal activity of this network, which was planning to transport a significant quantity of psychotropic substances from a southern province toward central provinces.
Field investigations led to identifying the truck’s route and specifications. Upon a thorough security inspection, the shipment of psychotropic substances was discovered hidden inside the truck’s fuel tank.
Continuing the investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecution, the remaining members of the network were identified and arrested. Two vehicles used in the criminal activity were seized, along with 756,000 Algerian Dinars in illicit proceeds.
The suspects were presented before the public prosecutor at the Sidi M’hamed specialized criminal pole in Algiers.
